The history of the productPATRONA DEI CICLISTI
THE MADONNA DEL GHISALLO, PATRON SAINT OF ALL CYCLISTS!
The Ghisallo Pass rises high above Lake Como in Italy. With its 500-meter vertical drop, 14% gradient and hairpin bends, the climb is considered a major cycling challenge, regularly featuring in the Lombardy and Italian tours.
But what makes this pass even more mythical is the little chapel built at its summit. Our Lady of Ghisallo is home to the "Madonna del Ghisallo", consecrated by Pope Pius XII as the "universal patron saint of cyclists" in 1948. Bikes, photos, jerseys and pennants - raised to the rank of relics for those that belonged to the legends Coppi, Bartali and Merckx (among others) - adorn the walls of this place of bicycle worship, a major pilgrimage destination for all cycling enthusiasts.
