The history of the productTHE ROWING
IMPORTED FROM ENGLAND, ROWING FIRST APPEARED IN PARIS IN THE 1830S.
As France's first athletic and mechanical sport, it became one of the most popular sports, pursued not only to improve health but also because it was the only sporting entertainment available. The Oxford-Cambridge rivalry began in 1829.
As the years went by, two categories began to emerge: those who rowed for pleasure and the so-called "serious" sport enthusiasts. The Fédération Française des Sociétés d'Aviron (F.F.S.A.) was founded in 1891, when the first French Championships were held. This same FFSA had a major influence on the creation of what is now known as the world's biggest sporting event, with a certain baron considering rowing to be one of its fundamental sports.
