The history of the productSCOTLAND 1925
THE SCOTTISH TEAM FINISHED FIRST IN THE 1925 FIVE NATIONS TOURNAMENT WITH A GRAND SLAM.
Until January 1925, international rugby matches were played in Inverleith, near Edinburgh. Scotland had already beaten France in Inverleith (25-4), Wales in Swansea (24-14) and Ireland in Dublin (14-8). The Murrayfield stadium was inaugurated on March 21, 1925 against England who had already achieved the Grand Slam in 1923 and 1924. They were the first visitors to Murrayfield. 70 000 spectators attended a balanced game, with Scotland winning 14-11 and thus securing its first ever Grand Slam. The winger Ian Smith was part of the "Immortals", the first Scottish team to achieve the Grand Slam, and the contribution of the three quarters was enormous: he scored eight tries.
