PARIS, THE CLIMAX OF THE RIVALRY BETWEEN AN ENGLISHMAN AND A SCOTSMAN ON THE TRACK!

Paris gathered two heroes of the British athletics delegation in 1924: Harold Abraham and Eric Liddell.

The first was a pioneer in the professionalisation of sports preparation. Of Jewish faith, he overcame difficulties and barriers by training relentlessly. He surprised everyone by winning the 100m gold medal in 10 seconds.

The latter was also a sprint specialist, as proven by his nickname "the flying Scotsman". A fervent Protestant, he withdrew from the 100m, as the final of this discipline took place on a Sunday. Authorized to start in the 400m (on a Thursday), he won gold with his number 451.
