History of the product

1905 1907 AUSTRALIAN JERSEY

While the Australians are great rugby players and therefore far from being fun on the pitch, the complicated and endless history of their jersey can make you smile. Indeed, before the official body that federates rugby today was created, the Australian team played with jerseys of various colors and emblems. This is mainly due to the dispute between the two main rugby regions, Queensland and New South Wales. The Australians have therefore played sometimes in sky blue and sometimes in brown, or in blue jersey with brown stripes... This is this magnificent version from 1905 to 1907 with its Kangaroo embroidered on the chest that Sports d'Epoque offers you.

In 1929, the idea of a green jersey succeeded to satisfy the two belligerents. However green has been the subject of debate, South Africa and Ireland have already adopted this color, and it is color that is difficult to distinguish from the black of their neighbours New Zealand on muddy ground, which was often the case at the time. The Australians did not use green against South Africa but light blue. From 1961 yellow was adopted and in 1976 the Australians decided to associate it with...green! This version inspired by the 1905-1907 jersey is proudly made in France in a traditional way.
